What are eyelash extensions?
Lash Extensions are a glamorous new way to extend the length and thickness of natural eyelashes, and are a practical, convenient and beautiful alternative to the daily use of mascara. Unlike decades-old, traditional false lashes, lash extensions are the first innovation in lash lengthening that can be worn daily, without nightly removal. Because each tapered, synthetic lash is bonded to a single natural lash, the final result is of effortless glamour and difficult to detect even close up.
How long do they last?
When properly applied, lash extensions can be worn throughout the year with minimal monthly maintenance. Touch-ups are recommended after the initial full set application to refill any lashes that have cycled out. To maintain the full, thick appearance of a new set of lashes a visit to your beauty/lash professional is recommended every 3 to 4 weeks based on your own natural lash growth cycle.
Can Lash Extensions harm my natural lashes?
When applied properly, lash extensions will not harm natural lashes. My application technique allows natural lashes to grow and thrive with extensions. This technique requires several different “separation” steps during the application process so each extension is adhered to a single natural lash in order to prevent interruption of the lash growth cycle.
Can Mascara be used on my eyelash extensions?
Mascara is typically not needed with lash extensions. Mascara should only be used when a touch-up is drawing near. Water-soluble mascara can be worn; however constant use of mascara may shorten the lifespan of lashes. Waterproof mascara is not recommended for use, as it will dissolve the bond with the lashes. NovaLash glycol and carbonate free mascara is specifically formulated for use on extensions without interfering with the adhesive.
Does it hurt to have eyelash extensions applied?
No. You are positioned on a massage table on your back. Your neck is supported and as well as your lower back and knees. Your eyes have to be closed during the duration of the treatment and a soothing under-eye patch is applied in order for the technician to properly see and separate your eyelashes. Most clients don't feel the lashes being applied and some fall asleep!
What are UV/LED lashes
UV/LED lashes are lash extensions either Classic or Volume which have been applied with a special UV/LED adhesive and cured by a special UV/LED light (similar to what nail salons use for gel nail polish). These lashes have the potential for longer retention with less fumes and less irritation to eyes. 80% of clients who have had allergies to traditional lash adhesive DO NOT HAVE ANY REACTION to UV/LED lashes.
Are UV/LED lashes Safe?
Absolutely!! The term Ultra Violet is used because the LED light oprates with in the UV spectrum. The wattage on my LED light (used to cure the lashes) is 5 watts. Which is extremely low. The wattage on a nail lamp is usually around 50 watts and a tanning bed is 2000 watts! The lash LED light is "flashed" after every single lash extension is applied for 1 second (to cure the lash into place). This means that even after 300 lashes is equivalent to less than 5 minutes of exposure to the light (equivalent to 60 seconds standing in the sun). Also a special UV light blocking tape is applied to the closed eyelid to stop any UV light from penetrating the eyelid.
